We always tell each other to forgive and forget and “take the high road”. But sometimes, it’s okay not to do that. It’s normal to feel jealous and petty sometimes because they’re basic human emotions. There were so many times when I’d feel extremely sad or jealous or angry and everyone around me would tell me it wasn’t good to feel that way. I’d get so angry with myself every time I felt angry, which felt so counterproductive. I finally realized that the only way to overcome a situation is to go through the wave of emotions first. No one can find happiness and inner peace without some turbulence first.

“Retaliate” is a dark pop song that is theatrical, suspenseful and triumphant.
